The Mystic Cedars of Csontváry Kosztka Tivadar

The Mystic Cedars of Csontváry Kosztka Tivadar: He was one of the first well known Hungarian painters in the 19th century. But the interesting thing about Kosztka is the mystic vision he had when he was 27 years old. He heard a voice telling him "you will be the greatest sunway painter, greater than Raphaell"...  actually, a "sunway Painter" is a term of his own, he invented it. Kosztka just followed the mystical message, saved some money and went to Italy, the coast of Dalmatia, the north of Africa and the Middle East looking for art influences, museums and art works. He wanted to see what the art was because he had no education in art history or any technic.

As others artist llike W. Blake, Csontváry Kosztka Tivadar gave himself to the mystic of creation... He was considered a crank because of his vegetarianism, anti-alcoholism, anti-nicotinism, pacifism, his latent, his prophetic writings and his apparent schizophrenia. Obviously a misunderstanding talent
