Kata Kálman and the face of the workers

The following is the portrait of Ernö Weisz, worker (1932)
It is one of the most famous and important images of the social photography before the War.
The social accent was a constant characteristic in the pictures made by Kata Kálman, one of the well known Hungarians photographers of those years. Germany, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland and Austria had a tremendous social and political upheaval which can be seen in the work of the photographers of that decade. Gender, identity and everyday life are aspects reflected on images during a time when central Europe hardly faced the modernity
